The Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) is a part of the Web of Science Core Collection, which was launched by Thomson Reuters. ESCI, which selected about 3,000 journals for coverage at launch, spanning the full range of subject areas, aims to extend the scope of publications in the Web of Science to include high-quality, peer reviewed publications. It ensures important research, which is not yet internationally recognized, is visible in the Web of Science Core Collection.
