Ring Opening in Epoxy, Propoxy Carbazole with Various Amines Using Ionic Liquid as Green Solvent

ABSTRACT

The epoxides undergo ring-opening reaction smoothly with various amines in an ionic liquid namely 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (bmim BF₄) under mild reaction conditions. All the reactions were carried out at ambient temperature to afford the corresponding β–aminoalcohols in excellent yields. The ionic liquid was recovered and reused in further reactions with very good efficiency.
